THIS IS NOT FORMULA RECORDZ RELATED BUT IS WORTH CHECKING OUT

DIALECT & DESPAIR
The Vortex
Available: NOW

Boasting 15 new tracks of authentic Hip Hop bangers, ‘The Vortex’ is a testament to Despair’s knowledge of records & Dialect’s flawless skills on the microphone. The album is an in house project between the two juggernaut production camps; Butterthief & Carlisle Productions. Featuring unforgettable guest appearances from Australian Hip Hop heavyweights Delta, Social Change & Motion. All production & cuts are executed By Despair and all lyrics are written & performed by Dialect making the final product a statement of each others personalities.

After meeting through a mutual friend in 2008, the duo sparked an instant chemistry through their common appreciation for record collecting and classic 90’s Hip Hop. What ensued was a friendship & musicianship which effortlessly crossed over onto the music they went onto produce. Dialect & Despair are a focused and determined musical partnership set to blaze trails for Hip Hop in Australia.

19 Year old young gun lyricist Dialect, who is well renowned for his incredible freestyle ability and skill on the microphone, is geared to release ‘The Vortex’ hot off the back of his critically acclaimed debut LP “Rugged Uncut” released in September 2008. The last year has proven to be a massive one for Dialect as he has supported Lupe Fiasco at Adelaide’s Big Day Out, The Beatnuts, Pharoahe Monch, The RZA, DJ Premier, Masta Ace, M.O.P, Ghostface Killah of the Wu Tang Clan, and toured extensively along Australia’s east coast. He received a triple J Unearthed artist spotlight in 2008 after featuring on two tracks off renowned New York lyricist C Rayz Walz latest album, and was recently Triple J Likewise, Despair has been making a sizeable name for himself in the Australian Hip Hop scene as of late. His knowledge of music and expertise behind the boards can be heard on Australian Hip Hop powerhouse Delta’s latest album The Second Story which Despair played a part in recording. He has been a prominent part of Adelaide’s DJ community over the last six years and has seen him perform at countless venues across the state. 2009 also marked the inception of his own studio, The Vortex, which has been graced by the likes of Delta, Social Change, Def Wish Cast, Prowla, OHNO (LA), Mojo the Cinematic (NY) & the legendary Erick Sermon of classic New York Hip Hop outfit EPMD.

The duo has crafted a live show performance that is second to none and which showcases their love for records, emceeing and the entire Hip Hop culture. Renowned for his matchless freestyle ability on the microphone, Dialect ensures that each live show is unique & spontaneous but always true to the art of emceeing. Paired with His Partner in Crime, Despair on the turntables whose live sets always impress, this duo take you back to the Eric B & Rakim era where an Emcee & DJ could rock the stage like no other.

‘The Vortex’ has already been privy to favourable reviews as when Hip Hop legend Erick Sermon was on tour of Australia visited Despair’s studio and heard an unreleased demo of the album and dubbed it the ‘future of Hip Hop in Australia’.

‘The Vortex’ is the name of the studio and the debut LP & thus marks the beginning of a new era in Australian Hip Hop so make sure you pick up ‘The Vortex’ on CD and Double Vinyl now.

HAUNTS BLOG: HOWARD THE DUCK FUCKS

Howard the duck, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Bugs Bunny, everyone remembers these joints from back in the day and there is one thing they all have in common……… INTERSPECIES RELATIONSHIPS!!!!!!!!

Think back to your childhood watching cartoons on the telly and occasionally poppin’ down the video shop on the weekend and getting the same shit out week after week. Apart from subliminally selling us action figures there is one thing these motherfucking bloodsuckers did, poison our minds with animals that wanted to fuck human chicks. As a human male I am quite offend by this.

Howard the duck is a film that makes me think of George Lucas in a completely different light. That entire joint is about Howard wanting to fuck Leah Thompson’s character, in the guise of an action/adventure aimed at children and young adults. He reads duck porn but quite clearly wants to be inside the films heroine.

The turtles wanted to fuck April O’Neil, who by the way was a dirty skank cause always wore the same yellow jumpsuit everyday for years and would be the most prolific reporter in the history of journalism (the latter is not a included in the reasons for her skankyness). This bird was a workhorse, the cartoon is based in New York and she seems to be the only person reporting the news on any level. Which fucks shit up because Krang and Shredder always watch the news and devise their evil plans from dimension x from any report made by this fiery headed, green cock teasing whore. So they’re chilln’ in the terrordrome, news comes on, motherfuckers watch and BANG they’re in New York fighting Turtles while Bee Bop and Rock Steady are fighting their inner urges to fuck each other (which is ok because their both mutants and no human parties are involved). I’m pretty sure Krang even had the horn for April otherwise why would an alien want to watch the news every night? Well maybe cause he wanted to be tentacle deep in this bitch whilst getting tips on the new scientific inventions that will help him takeover the world.

Elmer Fudd wanted to fuck Bugs bunny, well not Bugs Bunny in the conventional sense but when he was dressed as a woman. All this redneck lived for was his quest to dead Bugs but a bit of lippy and one dress later he was all head over heels and shit. How does this bad man hunter who bops round the forest with a shotgun wanna bang a female rabbit? I dunno? All this shows is that even back in the day they were pumping this shit into our grandparents and parents minds.

All this garbage boggles me and all I have to say is
KIDS AND ADULTS ALIKE SAY ‘NO’ TO INTERSPECIES RELATIONSHIPS!
Watch out for the upcoming blogs:
Star Wars: intergalactic relationships right or wrong?
Demolition Man: fact or fiction?

SKRYPTCHA
The Numbers
Available: July 23rd, 2010

From one city skyline to another, Sydney MC Skryptcha digs into hip hop’s East Coast influence for direction and tone on his much anticipated debut full length. Titled The Numbers, this fourteen track outing is an honest and personal expression of Skryptcha’s personality and love for the music wrapped up in that old boom-bap and soul sound. Like those who have made a mark in the past, The Numbers is a glorious mix of deft production work and intelligent lyricism and story telling.

Enlisting production from noted Australian beatmakers M-Phazes, Chasm, Jase and Ante Escobar alongside international input from Domingo (NY), Skryptcha brings to life the past twelve months with a blend of soul-drenched arrangements, catchy vocal harmonies, and classic beats. The first single, “Get Mine” (featuring the vocal work of Melbourne songstress Rachael Berry) is the album’s apex. The Chasm-produced number, with its big horns and party vibe, is their finest collaboration yet- the latest in their already stellar musical partnership.

In “All In” (featuring Bastion Bones of Sydney band Bones Atlas), Skryptcha delves into relationships, perfectly capped off by the line “we still play to win with ridiculous sums”. The title track “The Numbers” is a perfect summation of the album, a mid-tempo piece driven by Skryptcha’s memorable flow contemplating all the digits that create life’s formula- goals, ambitions, tribulations, and questions in numerical form. The closer “Postcard” is the meditative finale, an introspective look back through all days gone by boasting feel-good melodies and impossibly catchy rhymes.

With additional vocals by the aforementioned artists alongside Jeswon (Thundamentals), Dialectrix (electric once again on “Locked Down”) and Lotek, The Numbers is Skryptcha’s new school tribute to hip hop’s yesteryear, the culmination of more than a year’s worth of work. Proving that he had much left to write, The Numbers looks to propel the Sydney MC into the consciousness of the Australian music fan.

Walkin’ Alone
Available: August 6th

The name A-Diction says it all; wordplay, cleverness, and an overall obsession with the previous two points.

Born and raised in Melbourne, the duo consists of MCs Breach and Boltz. Breach, the precise wordsmith with focussed flow and witty punchlines, and Boltz, the crooner known for his explosive debut album ‘The Wishlist’, which featured international heavyweight Royce da 5’9” and local producer extraordinaire M-Phazes.

Yet, having released a number of well received works (2005’s ‘To be Announced’ EP; last year’s ‘The Three Year Itch’ mixtape and more recently the ‘In Good Company’ mixtape), the group have never released a full length LP; until now.

Their debut album, ‘Walkin’ Alone’, was painstakingly crafted from the rough and tumble reality of Melbourne life, and is best summarised by the events that led up to its release; it is an album that is bipolar in its thinking, a colourful swatch book of memories and observations that flitters between the lows of poverty and despair, and the highs of friendship and hilarity.

Years in the making, the LP has left no stone unturned when it comes to actively seeking musical collaborators; A-Diction have spared no expense in working with the likes of M-Phazes (Drapht, Bliss N Eso), Jase (Phrase, Daniel Merriweather, Pegz), Whisper (Equills), Lewis One (Twice As Nice) Mules (Hyjak N Torcha, Choose Mics) and enlisted the vocal talents of Vida Sunshyne and Bekah.

Behind the mic they are joined by a broad spectrum of respected and up and coming MC’s with Haunts and G-Force making memorable contributions; in addition Scott Burns, Billy Bunks, Whisper, Raven and Fraksha join A-Diction on a posse cut that is sure to be an instant underground classic. Meanwhile Doc Felix, DJ Mathmatics and DJ Juice provide some world class cutting on the album.

Available nation wide through Obese Records Distribution on August 6th 2010, the album, 4 years in production, reinforces the adage that good things come to those who wait, and clearly demonstrates the power of quality over quantity.

Backed with some impressive artwork by renowned illustrator R. Lyons, ‘Walkin’ Alone’ is a definitive all in one package; a fitting debut for artists with ten times the commercial success, let alone two poetic Melbourne partners in rhyme.
